Community
It's still here
It seems like the topic of how a sense of community has been lost over the last few decades is always in the news. “American Values Decline with American Community “, “Is America suffering a ‘social recession’?“ “School, home, repeat: America does not value community”. Awful headlines from a quick Google search.
Yes, I am sad that I have to make a post to highlight a recent success story about how the community helped someone in need. However, to start making changes in our daily lives that ripple out to the rest of the world, we must acknowledge where we are. And that’s ok.
Please share this post within your online communities! I’d love to be a part of them.
I just have to post a public shout out to our Boscobel area Meals on Wheels volunteers. One deliverer was the one who called 911 for grandma when she fell because she didn’t come to the door and he could hear her yelling (her life alert did go off and they did call her but she couldn’t hear them so they called me and I always go and check on her first to ensure she didn’t just bump the button putting on her socks, because that does happen to her a lot lol). A couple volunteers called me to check on her while she has been in swing bed. And the same gentleman who called 911 came to see her in the hospital last night. They are the most amazing, caring people. She always looks forward to visiting with them when they deliver her meals. Never underestimate what volunteering can do for your community.

I don’t have much to say today. I hope you had a lovely weekend, and may this week be easy on you.
Take care,
